Hello! I'm MicKayla
I'm MicKayla, owner and tattoo artist behind Silk Thorn Tattoo. I'm a detail-driven artist with a love for fine line, ornamental, solid line work, blackwork, and anything floral or nature-inspired. I opened this studio not just to tattoo, but to create a space that feels personal, intentional, and little bit bad to the bone.

My style lives in the in-between, where delicate and gritty meet. I love building pieces that flow naturally, tell a story, or just make you feel more confident when you look in the mirror.

I was lucky enough to learn under an incredible artist, Jon von Glahn. After years of grinding, learning, and drawing through nap times (yep, I'm a mama too), I took the leap and built Silk Thorn from the ground up. A lot of late nights, a little chaos, and a whole lot of drive.

Whether it's your first tattoo or your fifteenth, I'm here to make it a good experience.
I completed my apprenticeship and have been mentored under the incredible and rockstar owner of STT, MicKayla. I'm definitely the silly, dancing, (and usually singing) artist hustling around the shop. I love all things nature, outdoors, conspiracy theories, thrifting, books, movies and more. Beyond all the general goofiness, I am someone safe you can come to for a tattoo session, for whatever reason or season. Cleanliness, artistry and taking care of my clients are my top priority.

Whether you've been dreaming up something small or large, I'm ready to talk! I enjoy tattooing all different styles and concepts. However, I'm all about honesty- if it's outside my particular wheel house, I'm going to tell you (and also refer you to the right badass artist for the job). Tattooing to me is sacred, it's permanent and it's the one of the only things you get to take with you to the grave.
